SFC Environmental Technologies has a 30% operating margin, almost no debt and ₹152 crore of profit. Yet its IPO scores just 1 out of 8 on offer structure. This post breaks down the IPO score across six parameters to show where the company is strong and where investors should look closer.
A note on the headline score: the source analysis states 65.9/100 in its introduction but 64.41/100 at the end. The six section scores add up to 64.41, so that is the figure used here.
The Scoring Framework at a Glance
| Parameter | Score |
| Use of Proceeds | 7.5 / 20 |
| Offer Structure | 1 / 8 |
| Management & Promoters | 13 / 16 |
| Financial Health | 20 / 25 |
| Business Moat | 9 / 10 |
| Valuation | 13.91 / 21 |
| Total | 64.41 / 100 |
The framework combines financial performance, balance-sheet strength, promoter background, competitive position and valuation into one structured view.
1. Use of Proceeds: 7.5/20
The IPO includes a ₹150 crore fresh issue. The planned use of funds is:
- About ₹69.67 crore for working capital
- About ₹47.46 crore for repayment or prepayment of borrowings
- The balance for general corporate purposes
Nothing significant goes toward new plants, technology or acquisitions. Working capital and debt reduction can improve financial flexibility, but they give less visibility on new growth capacity. That is why the score is low.
2. Offer Structure: 1/8
This is the weakest area. The fresh issue is only about 11.84% of the total offer, while the Offer for Sale (OFS) is about 88.16%, covering 12,307,500 shares.
Money from a fresh issue goes into the company. Money from an OFS goes to the selling shareholders. When the OFS dominates, the company itself receives relatively little of what investors pay. Under this framework, only the fresh-issue portion earns a single point.
3. Management & Promoters: 13/16
This is one of the stronger areas. The three key promoters bring deep industry experience:
| Promoter | Experience | Pre-offer holding |
| Priya Sandeep Asolkar | ~36 years | 19.36% |
| Sandeep Sudhakar Asolkar | ~31 years | 14.45% |
| Saketchandrasingh Pratapsingh Dhandoriya | ~26 years | 9.03% |
Track record and experience earn 4/4, promoter shareholding earns 2/2 and capital allocation earns 4/4. Points are lost on governance and litigation:
- Corporate governance: 2/4. Board structure and related-party transactions scored positively, but auditor quality and governance red flags scored zero.
- Litigation and regulatory issues: 1/2.
It is worth reading the DRHP sections on related-party transactions and auditors directly.
4. Financial Health: 20/25
This is the biggest contributor to the score.
Revenue and profit growth (4/5 each)
Revenue rose from ₹519.44 crore in FY2023 to ₹657.49 crore in FY2024 and ₹697.85 crore in FY2025. That is roughly 34.35% growth over two years, though growth slowed sharply in FY2025.
Profit after tax rose from ₹94.81 crore to ₹144.17 crore and then ₹152.01 crore, an increase of about 60.33%.
Operating margin (3/4)
Margins improved from 24.52% in FY2023 to 30.12% in FY2024 and 30.47% in FY2025. Operating profit grew from about ₹127.38 crore to ₹212.65 crore.
ROE and ROCE (5/5)
ROE was 25.44%, 29.80% and 24.84% across the three years. It dipped from the FY2024 peak but stayed above 20%. FY2025 ROCE was about 29.29%.
Debt and interest coverage (3/3)
The company is in a net-cash or very-low-debt position. Interest coverage was 35.88x, 28.06x and 24.89x in FY2023, FY2024 and FY2025.
Cash flow quality (1/3)
This is the weak spot. Operating cash flow was ₹64.20 crore, ₹29.89 crore and ₹125.90 crore against PAT of ₹94.81 crore, ₹144.17 crore and ₹152.01 crore. The CFO/PAT ratio was roughly 68%, 21% and 83%. Profits are not converting into cash consistently.
Takeaway: great profitability, uneven cash conversion.
5. Business Moat: 9/10
- Market position: about 7th by revenue in its competitive universe (3/3)
- Entry barriers: 1/2
- Brand strength: 2/2
- Customer stickiness: 2/2, supported by regulatory requirements and dependence on established solutions
- Industry growth tailwind: 1/1
One caution: the tailwind parameter received full marks, but the supporting note flags a negative CAGR observation. Check the industry outlook and demand assumptions in the DRHP rather than relying on the score alone.
6. Valuation: 13.91/21
Diluted EPS was ₹10.05 in FY2023, ₹15.16 in FY2024 and ₹15.42 in FY2025. Peer P/E figures were 39.10x, 24.61x and 58.13x, averaging about 40.61x.
Two different valuation estimates appear in the analysis:
- Simple EPS × average peer P/E: about ₹626 per share
- The workbook’s own calculations: an average of about ₹550.04, with conservative and aggressive values of about ₹522.54 and ₹605.04
These come from different methods and should not be treated as the same number.
Component scores:
- P/E comparison: 4.91/8
- EBITDA comparison: 4/4
- Margin/ROCE premium justification: 3/3
- IPO discount comparison: 2/3
- PEG: 0/3
Strong margins and returns support a premium, but peer P/Es swing widely, so the comparison is noisy. The zero PEG score reflects slowing earnings growth. The final price band will matter a great deal.
Strengths and Concerns
Strengths
- Operating margin near 30% and ROCE near 29%
- Very low debt and strong interest coverage
- Experienced promoters with significant holdings
- Established brand and customer relationships
Concerns
- OFS-heavy offer structure (about 88%)
- Limited fresh capital directed at growth
- Slowing revenue growth in FY2025
- Inconsistent cash conversion
- Zero scores on auditor quality and governance red flags
Final Verdict
SFC Environmental Technologies looks like a high-quality business wrapped in a questionable offer structure. The 64.41/100 score is a structured summary of DRHP data, not a standalone investment conclusion. Before deciding, look at the final price band, updated financials, industry conditions, peer valuations and the risk factors in the prospectus.
